Visva-Bharati observed the 12th International Day of Yoga at Gour Prangana, Santiniketan from 6.15 a.m. Nearly 900 students, staff, and faculty members took part. The Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Visva-Bharati, presided over the ceremony. Many dignitaries were present. Among them were: Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region; Shri Anup Kumar Saha, Hon'ble MLA, Dubrajpur; the District Magistrate, Birbhum; the SP, Birbhum; the SDO, Bolpur; the SDPO, Bolpur; and many other senior officers of the district administration. The Hon'ble Acharya of Visva-Bharati and Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji's speech was broadcast in real-time from Kolkata on multiple giant screens. Thereafter, the 45-minute Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) circulated by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, was strictly followed under the guidance of the teachers and student instructors of the Department of Yogic Art and Science, Vinaya-Bhavana.
