International scholars gathered at the Polish Academy of Sciences to discuss the transcultural dimension of Joseph Conrad's life and work. There were six panels on “Conrad and Film”, “Conrad in bandes dessinées” and “Conrad in Contemporary Literature”, among others. The Director of PAN Magdalena Sajdak greeted the participants in Centre Scientifique Académie Polonaise des Sciences in Paris. The symposium was opened by Veronique Pauly, the President of the French Joseph Conrad Society and Agnieszka Adamowicz-Pośpiech, the Vice-President of the Polish Joseph Conrad Society.
The panel entitled Conrad in Contemporary Literature was chaired by Agnieszka Adamowicz-Pośpiech (University of Silesia, Poland); Nathalie Martinère (UNIVERSITÉ DE LIMOGES, FRANCE) delivered a paper on the presence of Conrad in the latest novel by Eduardo Berti.
