Art Schmidt was a Madison Sports Car Club/Midwestern Council racer. Among other cars, he prepared and drove this Volkswagen Type-1 Beetle for the S2 (Sedan 2) class under the auspices of MCSCC. He raced at Milwaukee Mile (State Fair Park) on the 1.8-mile road course (before its demise), and at Blackhawk Farms Raceway's 1.95-mile in Rockton, IL. I took these photos in 1984 while serving as his crew and assistant mechanic.
