Welwitschia Mirabilis, the Ancient King of the Namibian Desert
with Matt Dunaj.
Matt is a gardener and cactus collector. He is an avid member of the Los Angeles Cactus and Succulent Society, as well as the San Gabriel Valley Cactus and Succulent Society. His plants have placed first, second and third in various categories at the 31st Annual Southern California Inter-City Cactus and Succulent Show.
When his collection outgrew his apartment balcony, he constructed a geodesic greenhouse, inspired by Buckminster Fuller, to house his large and diverse cacti collection.
Matt brings us up-to-date on his activities since we last saw him in May 2018.
Matt's latest addition to his impressive Cactus and Succulent collection is the unique Welwitschia Mirabilis, the Ancient King of the Namibian Desert. The plant's only two foliage leaves grow continuously, and the largest known plant currently stands 4.6 ft tall and is over 13 ft in diameter.
